[#1]Wayanad (240km from Kochi) Vythiri close to Kalpetta is the the most popular hill station in Wayanad.

rive to Kozhikode on NH66. At Kozhikode Bypass ( pantheerankavu roundabout) take the Kunnamangalam road. At Kunnamangalam, take the NH776 and drive towards Kalpetta. This highwall paasses thrugh most the to popular hill stations in Wayanad district like Lakkidi, Vythiri etc.

Ernakulam → 178km → Kozhikode Bypass → 11km → Kunnamangalam → 9km → Thamarassery → 25km → Lakkidi → 7km → Vythiri → 10km → Kalpetta.

[#2]Munnar (125km from Kochi) Take the NH85 via Tripunithura from Ernakulam town.

From Muvattupuzha town take the left diversion towards Kothamangalam. From Kothamangalam drive towards Munnar.

[#3]Idukki (104km from Kochi) Take the Munnar route till Muvattupuzha. At Muvattupuzha town turn right into MC Road. In a short while, exit MC road and turn left in to Thodupuzha road. The road will zigzag through the Painavu and Idukki township area. Take diversion to you final destination point.

[#4]Vagamon (100km from Kochi) Probably Vagamon is a fasterset reachable hill station from Kochi. Take the NH85 till till Muvattupuzha.

Take diversion in Muvattupuzha town towards Thodupuzha and drive to Vagamon. The last 20km is high range road.

[#5]Thekkady (150km from Kochi) First drive towards Pala from Ernakulam.

There are two or three rout options to reach Pala from Ernakulam. The popular route is Tripunithura-Kaduthuruthy- Pala route. Just before the diversion into Pala town, take the Paika to Mundakayam route.

At Mundakayam, take diversion to Vandiperiyar . You are already on the NH185 ( also called KK Road). This road will take you to Kumily town, just before the road enters Tamilnadu.

At Kumily town take right diversion to Thekkady Lakeside & Periyar Tiger Reserve.

[#6]Gavi (170km from Kochi) For reaching Gavi from Kochi, follow the same route as above till Vandiperiyar. Just after Vandiperiyar town, take the right diversion towards Gavi via Satram (a popular view point) and Vallakadavu . This is a high range highway through the Periyar National Park & Tiger Reserve.

[#7]Ponmudi (230km from Kochi) From Vytilla bypass take the Tripunithura to Kottayam. From Kottayam continue on the MC Road towards Kottarakkara and Chadayamangalam ( you can take a detour to Jatayu Earth's Center by the highway ).

At Chadayamangalam (leave MC road ) take the Kadakkal route. Drive towards Ponmudi via Palode and Vithura. The last 10-15km is ghat road with many hairpin bends.

[#8]Ranipuram (370km from Kochi) is one among the smallest hill stations in Kerala. Take the NH66 till Kanhangad. Leave NH66 and take the Panathur road (towards Kerala-Karnataka border and Coorg ). Take diversion at Panathadi towards Ranipuram.

The last stretch is jeep road, will end nearer DTPC Ranipuram Resorts (ideal resting spot).The trekking trail and ticket counter is nearby.
