Museum of Kerala History

Glimpse of Kerala’s history told through a series of sculptures.

T

his museum located on the city’s outskirts has important scenes of Kerala history portrayed through sculptures.

Outside the museum is a statue of Parasurama, the mythological sage who is said to have created Kerala.

There is a contemporary art gallery, doll collection, and art exhibition space.

The Modern Art Gallery has a collection of over 200 exhibits by some of India's well known artists. This includes original works of Raja Ravi Varma, M.F. Husain, F.N. Souza, Jamini Roy, Benode Behari Mukherjee, Ramkinker Baij, Ram Kumar and K.G. Subramanyan, among others.

This museum was in fact started as private collection, and later converted into a formal museum for public viewing. A foundation runs this now.

Kerala Museum is located at Edappally , on the national highway towards the International Airport.
