he original ancient church in Fort Kochi was built by the Portuguese, consecrated as a cathedral by Pop Paul IV in year 1558.

Some 200 years on , during the British accent in Kochi, the church was demolished.

What you see today is the 1887 rebuilt version.

In 1894 Pope John Paul II declared the  the a Basilica.

It’s difficult to say what excel- majestic Gothic architecture or the spectacular paintings inside.

Must visit place in your Fort Kochi itinerary.

Santa Cruz Church is on of the 8 cathedrals in Kerala, and of the first in Asia.

The church is under the care of Diocese of Cochin.

Closed during noon time.
